J. L. Day Dead
J. L. Day, well known businessman and citizen of Concordia died Saturday morning of heart troule at his home on South Washington Street. Mr. Day had been enjoying the best of health and was feeling fine when he retired Friday evening, but when he went to get up about seven o'clock Saturday morning, he was unable to do so on account of a sudden attack of heart trouble which caused his death before members of the family could summon help.
Mr. Day was born in Loda, Ill, Oct. 22, 1869. He came to Kansas with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Day in 1870 and settled on a farm north of Concordia when he moved to Concordia and purchased the Barons House Barn.
He was married December 31, 1891 to Miss Jessie Park and to this union was born four children all of whom survive their father.
Mr. Day leaves to mourn his loss, besides his wife, four children, Mrs. Raymond Teasley, of Topeka: Miss Edith, Floyd and Norris all of the home, his mother, Mrs. Dave Ball and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mr. Day has been actively engaged in business since coming to Concordia having ran the Barons House Barn Taxi line for several years then selling it to purchase the Concordia Garage, disposing of it in a short time to take the agency for the Oakland cars and has his salesroom and repair shop on West Fifth Street in the old Concordia Steam Laundry building. Mr. Day had just taken the agency for the Stewart Truck and was going to handle the two cars together. He was an energetic businessman and will be missed in the business circles of Concordia as well as in his home circle.
The family have the sympathy of the entire community in their bereavement which seemed to cut short the good work of one who seemingly had many ears to live.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church this morning and interment was made in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
