Saturday, Feb. 27, 1999, at Cherry
Village Nursing Home, Great
Bend.
Mrs. Willenberg was born Lena
Lanterman on Nov. 4, 1894, at
Ellinwbod. She was a former resident
of Ellinwood, Chase, Claflin,
Wichita, Bartlesville, Okla., and
Reno, Nev., moving to Great Bend
from Las Vegas in 1998. She was a
homemaker; a member of Advent
United Methodist Church, Las Vegas;
a former member of Claflin
Methodist Church; and a life member
of Chase Carnation Chapter
276 of Order of the Eastern Star.
She was honored as a centenarian
by the city of Las Vegas.
She was preceded in death by
her first husband, Wilbur R.
Ames, in 1943; her second husband,
George, in 1964; a son, W.R.
Ames; and a stepson, Wayne.
Survivors include three daughters,
Dorothy Hoover of Salina and
Verda Hufford and Helen D.
Woodruff, both of Las Vegas; two
stepsons, Donald of Los Alamos,
N.M., and Warren of Wichita; a sister,
Rose Root of Wichita; eight
grandchildren; 12 stepgrandchildren;
12 great-grandchildren; eight
great-great-grandchildren; and
seven stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m.
Wednesday at Bryant-Christians
Funeral Chapel, Great Bend, the
Rev. R. Laney Kuhn officiating.
Burial will be Lyons Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Advent
United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to
9 p.m. today and until service time
Wednesday at the funeral home,
1425 Patton Road, Great Bend.
