Lance Cpl. Jordan S. Bastean, 19, of Pekin, Ill., died Oct. 23 while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Twentynine Palms, Calif. He was born to Steven Phillip and Kathy Rae (Leichtenberg) Bastean. Surviving are his mother, Kathy Bastean of Pekin; father, Steven Bastean of Fort Bragg, NC; grandparents, Bob Leichtenberg of Downs, Judy Leichtenberg and Thomas Bastean, both of Pekin, and Jackie and Phil Pampinella of Cape Coral, FL; great-grandparents, Florence and Jim Arnold, and Ray Besancenez, all of Cape Coral, FL and Gene and Gina Vahle of Quincy; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
