Following an extended illness, Mrs. Eugene Terrell Kirby died Tuesday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H. A. Johnson, on North Third Street.
Deceased was born in Newnan, Ga., on May 13, 1862, being the daughter of Robert Orr and Almira Elizabeth Simms Orr, of a prominent family of Georgia and Virginia. Following the death of her husband, she had made her home with her daughters in Florida, spending considerable time here with her daughters, Mrs. H. A. Johnson and Mrs. J. J. Sutherland. In early childhood she joined the Baptist Church, and was ever a faithful and active worker in church circles.
She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Joseph P. Merriwether of Miami; Mrs. H. J. Israel and Mrs. T. A. Whitaker of West Palm Beach; Mrs. H. A. Johnson and Mrs. J. J. Sutherland of Palatka; and two sons, L. T. Kirby and Grover C. Kirby of West Palm Beach.
Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock from the home of Dr. and Mrs. H. A. Johnson, with Dr. W. C. Norman, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Following these impressive services, the remains were forwarded to the old family home, Newnan, Ga., for interment.
