ASHEVILLE – Harold Alvin Gibson, 72, of 35 Brookdale Road passed away Sunday, October 23, 2011 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals.

A native of Henderson County, he had resided in Buncombe County most of his life. He retired as a long distance Truck Driver for Burger King.

Mr. Gibson was a son of the late Arthur Haywood Gibson and Nancy Jean Kelly Gibson.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Carolyn Doster Gibson of the home; children, Steven Gibson and wife Janice of Canton, Marcia Reynolds and husband Ronnie of Winston-Salem and John Eric Gibson and wife Arlene of Asheville; 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; sisters, Pat Fisher of Arden and Mildred Yates of Asheville; brother, Gary Gibson and wife Sue of Swannanoa; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held 3 P.M. Wednesday at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory with Rev. Jerry Wilson officiating. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Reynolds, Frank Fleck, Mark Fisher, George Lacina, Marion Thomas and Chad Reynolds.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home and at other times, the family will be at the residence.
