Mr. Augustine was born in Jefferson county July 8, 1858 and was married in Ripley county May 13, 1889 to Mary Younker, who survives him. Two sons, George V. and Nicholas P. of this city and one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Mahorney, also of this city, survive. One brother survives, Nicholas of Madison and four sisters, Miss Mary Augustine and Mrs Barbara Hill of Madison, Mrs. Lena Massing of Jefferson county and Mrs. Anna Harder of Michigan.
Mr. Augustine was a lifelong member of the Catholic church and at the time of his demise was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic church of this city. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and Modern Woodmen of America.
