J.R. (Joseph Robert) Parris, of Pampa, an employee of the Empire Oil & Gas company after being informed of the death of his brother, Lee Parris, 45, Thursday morning from fatal brain and spinal injuries received when his head struck the paving at the intersection of Sixth and Main street after he fell from the rear end of a truck in which he was riding, arrived in Borger late yesterday to make funeral arrangements.

J.R. Parris informed other relatives living in Vernon, Texas, where the body probably will be shipped tomorrow for burial. S.B. (Samuel Baxter) Parris of Vernon, another brother, is expected to arrive in Borger this afternoon to assist in making funeral arrangements and accompany the body to Vernon.

Parris was an employee of the Lemon Construction company of Pampa and while the truck on which he was riding was turning at the intersection near the Klean hotel, he was thrown from the rear end as its driver swerved the machine suddenly to avert a collision with another car.

Mr. Parris is survived by his widow, Mrs. Josie Taylor Parris; four daughters and one son, the eldest of which is 14 years of age, of Elkins, Ark.; his mother, Mrs. Margaret Monteith Parris, of Vernon. Six brothers and one sister also survive.

The body is being held at the Smith-Buntin Funeral home pending completion of funeral arrangements. Service may be held at the funeral home here tomorrow afternoon under direction of Rev. A.F. Johnson, pastor of the First Baptist church.

Parris was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Vera, Texas.

Pending arrival of relatives from Oklahoma, California and Arkansas, the body will be held in state at the home of Parris' mother, Mrs. Margaret Parris at Vernon until Wednesday. The body will be taken to Truscott, Texas, Wednesday for burial.

Parris was employed by the Lemon Construction company of Pampa and while passing through Borger, riding on the rear end of the truck, the driver suddenly swerved the vehicle in order to avert a collision with another machine. Parris was thrown head foremost to the paving. He was rushed to a Borger hospital where he died six hours later, without regaining consciousness.
