Obituary: Funeral services for Mr. Paul O. Zimmerman, 70, a lifelong resident of the Chokio area, were held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 1983 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Chokio, Minnesota. Mr. Zimmerman died very suddenly on July 24 at Ely, Minnesota. Officiating the service was the Reverend James Parks. Music was provided by organist, Mrs. Roger Amborn and soloist, Mrs. Clarice Dieter. Pallbearers were Delroy Scheelk, Laverne Norenburg, Harold Zimmerman, Allen Fuhrman, Donald Fuhrman, and Marvin Ellinghuysen. Interment took place in the Chokio Lutheran Cemetery. Paul O. Zimmerman, son of the late Oscar and Louise (Scheelk) Zimmerman was born December 22, 1912 at Chokio, Minnesota. He received his formal education at Chokio. As a young man, Paul farmed with his parents. He was united in marriage to Mary Buntje, March 30, 1937 at Chokio, Minnesota. Paul and Mary farmed at Chokio and rural Johnson, Minnesota for thirty-eight years prior to retiring and moving to Chokio in 1979. Mr. Zimmerman was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and had served on the church council. He was a member of the Tri-County Oil Company, Chokio Co-op Creamery, and Chokio Central Livestock Shipping Association. Survivors include his wife, Mary of Chokio, his sons, Earl of Wabasso, MN, Robert of Friendswood, TX, and Delroy of Fergus Falls, MN, his daughters, Marilyn (Mrs. Melvin Behrens) of Graceville, MN, and Collette (Mrs. William Cox) of Shakopee, MN, eleven grandchildren, his three brothers, Herbert of Roscoe, TX, Victor of Chokio, MN, and Philip of New Hope, MN, and his six sisters, Gertrude (Mrs. Raymond) Brunkow of Chokio, MN, Luella (Mrs. Gordon) Becker of Minneapolis, MN, Ruth (Mrs. Brian) Haake of Columbus, OH, Ruby (Mrs. Wallace) Aswege of Tempe, AZ, Doris (Mrs. Edward) Heuer of Crystal, MN, and Joy (Mrs. Fred) Daughery of Northfield, IL. Mr. Zimmerman was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Walter and Rueben. Arrangements were with Pedersen Funeral Home, Morris, MN.
