OHATCHEE- Graveside services for Frederick S. "Dick" Abel, 89, of Ohatchee, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Young's Chapel Cemetery with Crestwood Funeral Home of Gadsden in charge.
Mr. Abel died Saturday.
Survivors include his wife, Elzora Harcrow Abel; two sons, Lanny Fred Abel of Houston and Farley "Mike" Abel of Ohatchee; and a grandson, Brandon "Sunny" Abel.
Mr. Abel, an Etowah County native, lived in Hokes Bluff for most of his life. Her served in World War II and spent two years of combat in North Africa and Italy and received a purple heart. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co with 38 years service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Geneva Abel and 14 brothers and sisters.
