James "Jim" R. Beers, 67, of DuBois, died Sunday night at Shadyside Hospital, following a short illness.
He was born Feb. 23, 1925, in DuBois, the son of James and Mae Hoover Beers. He was married on Jan.9, 1945.
He was Protestant by faith. He was educated in the local schools and was a graduate of Sandy High School Class of 1943.
He was a lifelong resident of the DuBois area and was patrolman for DuBois for many years. He also served as police chief for 10 years.
He was a member of the Northwestern Pa. Chiefs of Police Association and was a coach of the Little League.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and also served as a game warden. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the 677th Military Police.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
