Paul H. Archer, age 78, of Massillon, died Monday, January 24th 2005, at his residence following an eight month illness. He was born in Akron June 18, 1926, son of the late Lawrence C. and Emma L. (Davis) Archer, and resided there until he moved to Massillon twenty years ago.

Paul was a retired a warehouse manager with Copper and Brass Sales in Cleveland, and was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran having served in the South Pacific on the USS Cotton #DD669. He was a member of Grace U.C.C. Church in Massillon, was Past Worshipful Master of Masonic Lodge Adoniram Island #517 in Akron where he was a 50 year member, and a 32nd degree Mason. Paul also was a member of American Legion Post #221 in Massillon; founded the Manchester Panther PAWS Booster Club; was an avid Ohio State fan, enjoyed local athletic events, and loved boating on Portage Lakes and Salt Fork Lake with his wife, Ruth and his many friends.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife of 43 years, Rose (Guban) Archer and 9 brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his wife of 13 years, Ruth (Dwyer) Archer; daughter Laurie (David) Haramis of Copley; son, Kenneth S. Archer of Cocoa Beach, FL; step-sons, Michael (Cheryl) Dwyer of Dalton, Jon (Leslie) Dwyer of Lake Zurich, IL, and Robert Dwyer of Navarre; 13 grandchildren, Jason, Matthew, Nick, Cassie, and Tessa Haramis, Katie, Kenny, and Kyle Archer

Danielle, Logan, Grace, Lucas, and Jack Dwyer; brother, Harold (Eleanor) Archer of Akron; sister-in-law, Louise Archer of Tallmadge; brother-in-law George Edwards of CA; special nephew, Buddy Archer and his children, Jerry, Jon, Jeff, Joe, Jill and their families; and his two special Jack Russell terriers, Molly and Friskie.

The excellent care provided by the Skilled Nursing Unit at Massillon Community Hospital was outstanding and we especially thank Nurse Debbie Brown. Thanks also to Hospice of Visiting Nurse Services and all the many friends and family who have been so supportive during Paul's illness.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, at 10:30AM at Grace United Church of Christ in Massillon with Rev. James W. Painting officiating.

Calling hours are Wednesday 5-8PM in the Atkinson-Feucht-Shaidnagle Funeral Home in Massillon, with Masonic services at 7:30 by Lodge Adoniram Island #517. Burial will be in Copley Cemetery. Contributions are suggested to Grace U.C.C. Youth Group Fund, 933 Main Ave. West, Massillon, OH 44647.
