OWEGO YOUTH REPORTED
MISSING IN ACTION

OWEGO, DEC. 22--By telegram, word was received yesterday from the Navy Department that Delmar Sibley, 22, nephew of Police Chief Earl Sibley, was reported as "missing" following the sneak attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, Sunday, Dec. 7.
Mr. Sibley was a member of the U.S. Navy, having enlisted in October, 1940. He was assigned to the U.S.S. Arizona, a first line battleship which was sunk during the Japanese raid two weeks ago.

He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Sibley and was born in South Dakota. For the last five years he had made his home with his uncle, Chief Sibley, on Main Street, this village and was well and favorably known to a large number of Owegoans.
Mr. Sibley is the first Tioga County resident to be reported as casualty as a result of the war, despite the fact that more than 60 young men of this county are in service in the armed forces of the United States in Hawaii and the Philippine Islands.
