QUINCY, Ill. - Cyril L. Knuffman, 83, of Liberty, Illinois, died at 12:40 a.m. Thursday, June 14, 2001, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.
Funeral services will be at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, at Duker & Haugh Funeral Home in Quincy and at 10 a.m. at St. Brigid Catholic Church in Liberty. Burial will be at St. Brigid Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home with a prayer service at 6 p.m.
Mr. Knuffman was born August 2, 1917, in Adams County to Joseph and Susie Lambert Knuffman.
He was married to Rita Schwartz on November 12, 1941, in Liberty. She survives.
Also surviving are five sons, Cyril (Bud) D. Knuffman of Atlanta, Illinois, Joseph Knuffman, Dennis Knuffman and Clint Knuffman, all of Liberty, and Rick Knuffman of Manville, Illinois; nine daughters, Doris Knuffman of Quincy, Judy Summers of Mendon, Illinois, Sandra Mears of Hannibal, Rita Faye Vogelpohl of Pittsfield, Illinois, Janice Wiemelt, Paula Peter and Michelle Ehrhardt, all of Liberty, Christine Knuffman of New Berlin, Illinois, and Veronica Cole of Centreville, Virginia; 32 grandchildren; and three great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Josie Knuffman; and two grandsons, Adam Summers and Zachary Summers.
Mr. Knuffman was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of St. Brigid Church and Holy Name Society.
