David Frank Anders' headstone at Mount Vernon Methodist Church Cemetery in Amite County, Mississippi has an incorrect date for his death.

It shows 1863 -- his family mistakenly thought he was killed at the Battle of Murfreesboro,
Tennessee in 1863 -- that is where the marker's death date comes from.

However, Confederate War Records show that he was active during 1864 up until the time of the Battle of Franklin, Tennessee in November 1864. (records analyzed from the web site fold3.com)

The historian at the McGavock Confederate Cemetery in Franklin, Tennessee is sure that David Frank Anders died in the Battle of Franklin, Tennessee on November 30, 1864, late in the day / early evening and is buried in the McGavock Confederate Cemetery, section 33 (Mississippi), plot 180.

Plot 180 has a marker with the initials DFA on it, and David Frank Anders name is recorded in the book of interments at McGavock Confederate Cemetery.

Enlisted September 28, 1861 at Bay Springs, Mississippi for 1 year into Co. C. 7th Mississippi Infantry.

He was wounded at Murfreesboro, Tennessee on January 3, 1863 and sent to a Confederate hospital, and returned to regiment in May, 1863.

In January, 1864 he reenlisted "for the duration of the war".

April 10, 1864 he was in in a local hospital but returned in May, 1864.

He was wounded severely on July 27, 1864 at Atlanta, Georgia, sent to a hospital again, and later returned to his regiment.
