William L. Drane, 82, Deming resident, passed away Friday, May 3, 1996, at his home east of Deming. A graveside service will be held at noon today at the Desert Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Drane was born May 15, 1913, in Smithfield, Ky., to Lyle Stephen Drane and Marion Hawkins Drane. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II and the Korean War and had been a communications installer for Weston Union for 20 years. Mr. Drane moved to Deming in 1984 from Scottsdale, Ariz., and was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a devoted husband to his wife Irene of 23 years, who preceded him in death in 1987. Survivors include a son Steve Drane of San Rafael, Calif., and a daughter Chizuru Fujita of San Francisco, Calif. Arrangements by Bacas Funeral Chapels and Bacas Mimbres Crematory.
