Camble Herman Long was the son of Nicholas Beckner Long 1834 – 1896 and Elizabeth Ann Walker 1847 – 1919. His known siblings were: James W. Long 1873 – 1928; Margret A. Long 1873; Gains Nelson Long 1876 – 1962; Thomas Otis Long 1878 – 1952; and Henry Luther Long 1884 – 1956

On June 24, 1906 Camble Herman Long became the husband of Flora E Moore. From this marriage 14 children were born. They were: Vannie Long 1906 – 1975; John Claxton Long 1907 – 1948; Ruby Emmiliene Long 1909 – 1989; William Nicholas Bunn Long 1910 – 1973 Marie Long 1912; Lincoln Dale Long 1913 – 1973; Louise Long 1914 – 1956; Mable Gladys Long 1916 – 2003; Carl Herman Long 1918 – 1918; Mary Ruth Long 1920 – 2002; Talmadge Taylor Long 1922 – 1966; Edith Long 1924;James Otis "Jimmy" Long 1925 – 1991 and Illa Jean Long 1929 – 2001.

On the 1910 census Camble and Flora owned their own home, with no mortgage attached. They were living near Bulls Gap and Camble was employed by the government as a rural Mail Carrier. Camble's widowed mother, Elizabeth Long, his sister, Mary, and his brother, Henry were living with them. Henry was a school teacher.

July 6, 1921 was a very sad day for Camble and the family. Little three year old Carl passed away. The cause of death has not been found. He was buried at the Shepherds Cemetery.

The 1930 census showed substantial change in the Long household. All 13 living children were at home. Camble was still delivering mail. Vannie was a teacher at a public school. John C. was a salesman at the General Store, and Bunn was working as a farm laborer. Six of the children were in school.

The 1940 census revealed that the family was still living in the same place as they always had lived. There home was valued a $4000.00. Camble was working 52 hours a week and had a salary of $1200.00 a month. Eight children were still living at home. The big surprise was that Vannie had married a man who's first name is unknown and with the surname of Henard, and was already widowed and back living at home. No other documentation for her marriage or her husbands death are available.

On July 25, 1986, Flora E Moore Long passed away. Family and friends gathered at her grave site to bid her to Rest in Peace.
