Grandson of James Alfonson Brown & Mary Maiden; Son of James Alfonso & Mary Ellen Bivins Brown; Husband of Martha Adelyn Brumley Brown; father to Tricia, Cindy, Charles L. Jr. & Jon Brown. WWII vet; served on USS Saratooga. Chief Engineer on Gemini Space Program who helped develope the environmental control system; also worked on the Mercury and Apollo Space Programs. Moved to Arkansas and became Dean of Continuing Education at Westark Jr. College in Fort Smith. He then became the Director of Mental Retardation, serving both the State of Arkansas and the Booneville, AR ARC Unit; retired to Alma, AR where he was on City Council and took over the volunteer job of mapping out and keeping up the records of Alma Cemetery.
