Born Sarah Beltzhoover, d/o Daniel Beltzhoover and Lizzie Miles. Her father, an 1847 graduate of West Point, would see service in the Civil War as Lieutenant-Colonel of the 1st Louisiana Heavy Artillery. Sister entered the Daughters of Charity at Emmitsburg, Maryland, September 23, 1886, ten months before her own sister Mary Jane who took the name Sister Berchmans. Sister Agatha would be missioned to schools in Wisconsin, Massachusetts. Maryland, and Louisiana, before her premature death at age forty-four.
