Steve A. Fettig, 52, of Petoskey, passed away July 31, 2002, at his home in Resort Township.A memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, at St. Francis Xavier Church in Petoskey with the Rev. Dennis Stilwell and the Rev. Frank Kordek officiating. A memorial gathering will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, in the gathering space at St. Francis Church.Steve was born Feb. 8, 1950, in Petoskey, the son of Raymond and Edith (Martinchek) Fettig. He grew up in Petoskey and was a graduate of St. Francis High School, class of 1968. After graduation, Steve enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He
served in Vietnam as an air traffic controller. After his
honorable discharge, Steve worked as a civilian air traffic
controller until the early 1980s. He then moved back to Northern Michigan and opened Alfie's Attic Flower Shop which he operated for several years. He was currently employed as a rural route carrier with the U.S. Post Office. Steve's hobbies included antique restoration and his pride and joy was his 1964 Chevy Impala. Steve is survived by his children, Stephanie and Steve, and his special daughter, Janell Willingham; granddaughter, Anabel; three brothers, Raymond (Jean), Grant (Mary Ellen), Dennis (Kathy); and one sister, Edith (Larry) Lane; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Sally Flowers, Mindy LeSure and Jennifer Sheldon. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family, in care of Stephanie Fettig.Arrangements were handled by Stone Funeral Home in Petoskey.
