George Wood FISHER never married and in his later years he lived with his sister, Eliza Armstrong (FISHER) REED and her husband, Charles Allen REED on the shore of Lake Erie in rural Ripley, Chautauqua County, New York on their grape farm.

George enjoyed playing with his niece, Helen Schuyler REED, and his nephew, William Elliot REED. Helen spoke fondly of him when she recalled her childhood to me. He so loved the children that he provide well for them in his estate.

George had epilepsy so there was not much work he could do without bring concern upon himself.

He died on the Lake Road farm and his body was shipped to Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati, Ohio to be buried among all his FISHER family, as were his siblings except his sister, Eliza who was buried in Quincy Cemetery at Ripley beside her husband, Charles. Eliza's grave is inscribed "Mother" in her honor.
