Dorothea married Charles Lowell Hendricks on November 27, 1941 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Boone. The couple lived in Boone many years until they moved to "the Cabin" near Fraser, Iowa. They resided there for over 12 years when they moved to Dayton, Iowa. Dorothea returned to Boone where she has lived for the past 7 years.
Dorothea's favorite things in life were her children and grandchildren. She loved to cook, bake, and read. She was a tireless volunteer in her community. Dorothea worked as a clerk at Riekenberg Clothing and Herrald Drug in Boone for many years. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Boone.
Dorothea was preceded in death by her parents, her stepmother Vera Jipp, and her husband Chuck. Dorothea is survived by her 5 children: Judirae Obrecht and husband James of Ames; John Charles Hendricks of Temple, Texas; Marilou Cheple and husband Mark of St. Paul, Minnesota; Jo Ann Hendricks of St. Paul, Minnesota; Julie Kay (Jinx) Hill and husband Michael of Marshalltown. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and her aunt, Jesimarie Mathers of California.
