Harry H. Crabb Succumbed Sunday Morning

Chapin, Iowa, July 29 - Richard "Harry" H. Crabb, age sixty-four, a resident of Chapin the past twenty-one years died at his home shortly before 10:00 o'clock Sunday forenoon. He has been ill and hospitalized since last December at Hampton and in the Veterans hospital at Des Moines until May, when he was taken to his home..

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Kenneth Harden, were held at 2:00 p. m. Wednesday in the Methodist church, preceded by a prayer service for the family and relatives at his home. Burial was in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery at Swaledale with the Wartnaby funeral home, of Sheffield, in charge of arrangements.

Harry H. Crabb, a son of Edwin and Elizabeth Crabb, was born on a farm near Thornton, April 28, 1895. He was married June 2, 1924 at Clear Lake to Ethel Marie Fernau, of Swaledale. They farmed near Swaledale two years and in 1938 moved to Chapin which has since been their home. He had been an employee of the Farmers Co-operative Elevator Company of Chapin. At age thirty-eight he united with the Baptist church, at Swaledale, and after moving to Chapin became a member of the Methodist church here. Surviving are his widow, three sons, Lt. William Crabb, of Seward Air Force Base, Tennessee; Dell Crabb, of Hampton; Raymond Crabb of Chapin; three daughters. Mrs. Joe (Pearl) Lichman, of Mason City; Mrs. Richard (Jean) Crawford, of Hampton; Mrs. Ralph (Ruth) Rozevink, of Hampton; sixteen grandchildren and a brother, Charles Crabb, of Clear Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers.
