The community was sadly stricken with grief on learning of the death of a much honored fellow citizen, James Haworth, on Tuesday, April 1, 1902. The deceased was born in Hamilton county, Indiana, August 6th 1838. When a boy he moved to Iowa with his parents. In 1853 settling in Salt Creek where he lived for about 30 years. He then moved to Toledo and has lived here ever since. During Mr. Haworth's life in Toledo, he has made many friends and acquaintance, who sadly mourn the loss of a well-respected brother. He united with the Methodist Episcopal church when but a mere boy and remained a faithful and obedient member until he died. The church feels that it baa indeed lost a valuable member who was ever on the alert to do anything in his power to forward the work of the Almighty Father. In 1869 he was united in marriage with Agnes Hamburg and to them were born four children, Mrs. Ruby Dowd, Charles, Feed and Ida, who are all living and were able to be present at their father's funeral. He leaves to mourn his loss a wife, four children, three brothers and a sister. His sickness was very brief, lasting only a few days, the disease being pneumonia. The funeral services were held at the Methodist Episcopal church at 2:30 this p.m., conducted by his pastor, Rev. E. L. Miller. There was a large crowd of friends and sympathizing neighbors who went to pay their last respects to the dearly loved brother. The floral offerings were many and very fine, showing the high esteem in which, the citizens held him. The burial was in the beautiful Woodlawn cemetery. The bereaved wife and children have the sympathy of the entire community in this their saddest of all times.
