Laura Marie Betterton was the daughter of Owen and Nancy Ann Moon Betterton.

Laura married Henry Clay Jones on February 18, 1877 in Knox County, Illinois. They had two sons: Owen E Jones, born December 4, 1877 and Durwood born in 1879, both born in Knox County.

MRS. HENRY JONES OF LONDON MILLS DIES HERE
LONDON MILLS - Mrs. Laura Jones, 87, who resided in recent years with her sons Owen and Durward, whose homes are south of London Mills, died at 8 o'clock Wednesday night in the Cottage Hospital at Galesburg, where she had been a patient for several weeks.
Her husband, Henry Jones, died in 1927, after years of farming in this locality.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon in the Christian church of London Mills. Interment will be in the Methodist Church Cemetery at Hermon.

FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR MRS. HENRY JONES
LONDON MILLS - Funeral services for Mrs. Henry Jones were held Saturday afternoon in the Christian Church. Rev. J.E. Sibert, pastor of the United Brethren Church, officiated.
"Beautiful Beckoning Hands" and "Death is Only a Dream" were sung by Mrs. Julius White, with Mrs. Weldon Shreves at the piano. Casketbearers were Seaton Moon, John Wolford, Julius White, Harle and Bert Benson, and Vern Effland. Burial was in Methodist Cemetery at Hermon.
Laura M., daughter of Owen and Ann (Moon) Betterton, was born in Chestnut Township, Knox County, Sept. 23, 1855. She entered the Cottage Hospital in Galesburg in September 1942, and remained there until the time of his death, which was due to the infirmities of age and which occurred Dec. 23, 1942. She was 87 years of age.
While still a young woman, she united with the Christian Church at Hermon, later transferring her membership to the London Mills Christian Church. In 1877 she married Henry Jones and they lived in or near London Mills until Mr. Jones' death in 1927. Following that, the remainder of her life was, spent in the homes of her two sons, Owen and Durwood.
Mrs. Jones was the last of a family of ten children. She is survived by her two sons Owen and Durwood; four grandchildren, Mrs. Freda Boland, Altona, Claude Jones, Mrs. Maxine Essex and Mrs. Avis Johnson of this place; also eight great-grandchildren and several nephews and nieces, all of whom will miss her greatly.
