Former Logan Fireman Dies
Wilford Herbert Coley, 63 a Logan-Cache fireman for 26 years prior to his retirement, died last night at his home 64 West 6th South, following a long illness.
He was born March 1, 1903, in Lewiston, a sone of Herbert and Martha Christensen Coley. He was married May 15, 1924, to Edith Dagmar Cammack in Logan. The wedding later was solemnized in Logan LDS Temple.
Mr. Coley had lived in Logan since 1924, and prior to then in Richmond. He began service with the fire department March 1, 1924, and retired March 1 1950.
Since his retirement he had been employed in the maintenance department of Logan LDS Hospital. He enjoyed the outdoors, and especially was a devotee of fishing. Also, he operated a small farm west of Logan.
Mr. Coley was a member of Logan 14th Ward.
Surviving are his widow; Logan; one son and three daughter's, Raymond H. Baltimore, Md., Mrs John (Afton) Cooper, Pocatello, Ida,; Mrs. Dean (Shirley) Gittins, Tacoma, Wash., and Mrs. Richard (Marlene) Knowlton, Layton; 12 grandchildren; nine brothers and sisters: Mrs. Lilion Bowcutt and Mrs. Edna Nielsen, Richmond; Ivan S. Coley and Mrs Carrie NcMurdie, Buhll, Ida.; Roland Coley, Mesa, Ariz,; Lloyd Coley and Mrs Hannah Tompson, salt Lake City; Arthur Coley, Ogden, and Golden Coley, Hyrum.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, 12 noon, in Logan Sixth-14th Ward chapel by Bishop Mahlon Rice. Friends may call at Hall Mortuary Thursday, 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday one hour prior to services.
Burial will be in Logan City Cemetery.
