Funeral services for Elma’s oldest resident, Mrs. Thomas J. Cashman, who passed away December 3, 1943, age 93 years, 5 months and 23 days, were held Monday morning at the Immaculate Conception Catholic church. The pastor, Father Ed O’Donnell, read the requiem. The last rites were attended by a large crowd of friends who had gathered to pay their respects to this pioneer settler. Burial was made in the Cecelia cemetery beside the remains of her husband. Conway’s were in charge of funeral arrangements.

Pallbearers were Francis and Vincent Marr, Raymond and Louis Cashman, Private James Cashman and Tom Higgins.

Mrs. Thomas J. Cashman, nee Johanna Maria O’Conner, was born at Bankston, Dubuque county, Iowa, on June 8, 1850. On October 6, 1875, the deceased was married to Thomas J. On October 6, 1925, Mr. and Mrs. Cashman celebrated their golden wedding anniversary, and on March 9, 1926, Mr. Cashman passed away.

Eight children were born to bless this union, two of whom having preceded their mother in death. One son, Ed, passed away in 1935, and one daughter, Loretta, died when but one year of age. Marr Jr., New Haven, Iowa.] Besides the above, the deceased is survived by 22 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. M. Daly and Mrs. W.
