Services for Bessie Mae Corbin will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October, 20, 2011, at Chapel of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria with Reverend Jim McKeithen and Dr. Sidney LaMarr Poe officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Pineville, under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 19, 2011, at Hixson Brothers, Alexandria, from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.
Mrs. Corbin, 88, of Columbia, Louisiana, passed away Monday, October 17, 2011, at Lexington House.
She was a member of Sandy Bayou Baptist Church, Columbia. Mrs. Corbin was a cook, seamstress and caretaker most of her life. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed Gospel Music, cooking, gardening, quilting and helping others.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, J. C. Rachal, Lawrence Martin, and Lonnie C. Corbin; her parents, Antwine and Cecilia Basco Coutee; brothers, Ellis Coutee, and Eddie "Sonny" Coutee; son-in-law, John T. Fletcher; grandson, Charles E. Fletcher.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Velma Rachal Fletcher, Barbara Ann Rachal Poe and husband Dr. Sidney LaMarr, and Cecilia "Sissy" Rachal Paul and husband Larry; sisters, Ruby Coutee Tanzey, and Gertrude Coutee Burris; six grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Brent Paul, Brian Paul, Cole Fletcher, Gregg Fletcher, Jacob Perkins, Lonnie Paul, and Merritt Hillman.
