ELWOOD, Ind. — Gertrude F. Welborn, 95, of Elwood, died Oct. 16, 2011, at Community Hospital in Anderson following a brief illness.
Gertrude was born Aug. 9, 1916, to Benjamin and Cora (Beck) Hartley in Elwood.
She married George Welborn on March 4, 1937, and he passed away Feb. 17, 2002.
She attended Frankton Christian Church and was a member of the Pork Producers Association and the Frankton Craft Club.
Gertrude loved to sew, crochet and spend time with her grandchildren.
Gertrude is survived by her daughter, Ginger (Mike) Walkup of Lafayette; son, Gary (Sharon) Welborn of Anderson; four granddaughters, Brenda Asher of Noblesville, April (Frank) Salemi of Arlington Heights, Ill., Laura (Kyle) Small of Fishers, and Rhonda (David) Jennings of Indianapolis; two grandsons, Bruce (Beth) Walkup of Lafayette, and Shane (Charity) Walkup of Wingate; four great-grandsons, Joshua Asher, Clay Small, Grant Small and Joseph Salemi; four great-granddaughters, Abby Hutsell, Michaela Walkup, Kaylee Walkup and Sophia Salemi; and great-great-grandson, Luke Hutsell.
She was preceded in death by her father, Benjamin Hartley; mother, Cora Lee (Beck) Hartley; husband, George W. Welborn; and an infant son at birth.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Harper and Dunnichay Funeral Home, Frankton.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Revs. Doug Davis and Al Covell officiating. Burial will take place in the K of P & I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
