Retired teacher Mary E. Neal, 87, of Monroe died at 3:40 p.m. Thursday at Mercy Memorial Hospital. She had been seriously ill for 10 days.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday at Rupp Funeral Home. She will lie in state from 10 until services at 11 a.m. Monday at Monroe Christian Missionary Alliance Church. The Rev. Terrance Smith, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.
Surviving are three sons, Ralph S., Daniel C. (Carole) and David S. (Nancy), all of Monroe; three daughters, Rachel L. Godek of Richmond, Linda D. (Wymer) Sharpe of Monroe and Elaine J. Neal of Clemmons, N.C.; two sisters, Bertha Cameron and Doris Drew, both of Bangor, Maine; 24 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren, and 16 step-great-grandchildren.
