Thelma Florence (Mikesell) Winters married Wayne Norman Winters on the 17th of August 1952 at the old Spokane Branch of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Spokane, Washington. She had been baptized at that church on 14 June, 1942. Thelma survived breast cancer but suffered during her last years from Parkinson's disease. Her ashes are buried next to her parent's graves. Obituary was written by her daughters.

Thelma passed away surrounded by her family; her husband, the love of her life for 59 years, Wayne Norman Winters and daughters Debbie Weber-Winters, Jan Mirus (Mitch), Anita Cooper (Mike) and Ginny Winters. She ls also survived by her sister, Leslie Wood (Boyd). She was the loving grandmother of Justin Weber (Laura), Thane Weber (Jennifer), Amy Brittain (Chris), Ryan Mirus (Lacy Jo), Melissa Mirus, Michelle and Grant Cooper, Peter Mangum, Candy Winters and great grandchildren Jade and Katie Weber. She leaves numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Born in Pocatello, Idaho to Jeff and Florence Mikesell. Preceded in death by her parents and brothers Ernest (Edith), Jeff Jr. and Jim Mikesell (Wilma); sisters Betty Erlandson (Evan), and Della Binder (Eddie).

She attended Edison grade school, Libby Jr. High, and Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane. Thelma graduated in 1952 from Harper (Oregon) High School. She went to Spokane Community College and became an LPN, graduating at the top of her class.

She was very involved in her church as a leader in women and youth ministries and volunteered working with special needs children. She worked alongside her husband managing the Valleyford egg farm and others.

A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on October 22, 2011 at the Community of Christ Church 11515 E Broadway, Spokane Valley, WA.

Mom graduated at the top of her class with a nursing degree. She was a leader in her church with women and youth ministries. She worked many years on the family farm. Mom loved combing the beach, walking the desert, researching family history and reading a good book.

Please join our family for a celebration of her life on Saturday, October 22nd at 2 PM at the Community of Christ Church, 11515 E. Broadway, Spokane Valley, WA."
