Frances was the daughter of James H. and Mary (Bradley) McKinney. She was first married to Jesse Harrison Barnes, 8/9/1914 in Fort Dodge, Calhoun County, Iowa. Jessie died at a young age leaving Frances with a small daughter, Doris. She moved to California with her parents sometime after 1920 and remarried to Walter Peterson who died in Oroville in 1957. She and Walter do not appear to have any children.

Oroville - Services for Frances Elizabeth Peterson, 87, who came to Oroville more than 50 years ago, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Sanford and Mullen Mortuary. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Peterson, a native of Iowa, died Tuesday in Carmichael, where she recently had moved.
