BERTIE CARTER AVERY, 85, Hamilton, died on Monday, March 4, 1996, at Pineview Health Care Center in Winfield. She was born on August 11, 1910, in Marion County, the daughter of George Edmond and Lovie Sara Frances Cantrell Carter. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pleasant Ridge Free Will Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 6, 1996, at 2 p.m. from the Pleasant Ridge Free Will Baptist Church with burial in the Memory Gardens. Bobby Duncan was the officiating minister.

Survivors include three sons - Gene Avery and Jimmy Avery, both of Hamilton and David Avery, Somerset, Mich.; two daughters - Lois Cochran, Hamilton and Bonnie Riley, Golden, Miss.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two brothers - Felix Carter and Gary Carter, both of Hamilton; four sisters - Florence Swindle, Littleville, Flossie Ballard, Hamilton, Rosa Bell Owens, Haleyville, and Eleanor Kinney, Detroit, Mich.
Hamilton Funeral Home directed the services.
