MRS. CHARLES W. MITCHELL DIES AT AGE OF 79 YEARS
Widower and Five Children Survive


Mrs. Agnes Mitchell, wife of Chas. W. Mitchell of 217 South Walsh street, Garrett, died in the Sacred Heart hospital at 1:55 a. m. Friday. She had been in poor health for several years and diabetes developed in 1938. She became critically ill Thursday and was removed to the hospital.

Services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the family residence with the Rev. Carl G. Adams of the Methodist church and the Rev. D. J. Dunkin of the Garrett Baptist church officiating. Burial was made in the family lot in Calvary cemetery.

Mrs. Mitchell was 79 years of age and was born in Stratford, Ont. Can., August 10, 1863. Her family moved to Michigan when she was a small child and she and Mr. Mitchell were united in marriage at Baldwin, Mich., in 1887. They moved to Garrett from Manistee, Mich., in 1891. Mr. Mitchell is a retired Baltimore and Ohio engineer.

Six children were born of this union. A son died in infancy and the other five are Mrs. Myrtle Jacko, who lives in the Mitchell home; Mrs. Archie Dean of 602 Union street, Auburn, Ben Mitchell of 1105 South Jackson street, Auburn, Chas. N. Mitchell of Calumet City, Mich., and L. E. Mitchell of Fort Wayne. Twelve grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Mary Zigler of Cadillac, Mich., also survive.

Mrs. Mitchell was a member of the Grand International Auxiliary of the Brotherhood Railroad Engineers, being the possessor of a 40-year membership button, and she was also a member of of Harmony chapter No. 67, Order Eastern Star.

The body was removed Friday evening from the Geo. W. Iler mortuary to the Mitchell home.
