Mother Catherine Featherly Baker b. 1786 daughter of John Featherly ( one of he founding settlers of Phelps, Wayne Co., New York) and Marry Closs.
DNA match to brothers Nicholas and John Featherly Baker
After Polly's fathers presumed death, Polly can be found on the 1840 census next to her mother living her elderly Grandfather John Featherly. Polly moved with her brother John F Featherly and his family to Somerset, Hillsdale Co., where she met and married Mahlon Brown before 1837. From there they relocated in abt. 1846 to Nottawa, St Joseph Co., Michigan continuing to farm. In May for 1854 the family moved to Falls, Cerro Gordo Co., Iowa then onto Elk Point, Lincoln Co., South Dakota, then known as the Dakota Territory. Mahlon's bio states that he went to California, possibly for the gold rush, however died in Elk Point in 1874. I am unsure as to the events that lead to Polly' death, she was with her son Edmond Burris in Oregon at the time. Did Mahlon and Polly both go to the coast and he returned to take care of business and dying unexpectedly leaving Polly in Oregon, or did she go to Oregon with her son after Mahlon's Passing? Polly was the quintessential pioneer woman, constantly moving to uninhabited frontiers and establishing a home and providing for her husband and 7 Children.
Please note that there seems to be a mix up with a Polly Pease Father George Pease, Married to Avery Brown Moscow, Hillsdale Co., Michigan. Sons Marquis' marriage record states that his mother is Polly Baker.
