Alfred was the son of Aaron Land and Millie Walker. He married Millie Ann Hooper on April 23, 1874. They had 7 children that lived to adulthood: Dulcenia, Robert J, Thomas Grayson, Cintha Angeline, Lelia Mary, Julia E. and William Arthur. He died January 28, 1927 in Blairsville and is buried in Old Union Cemetery in Georgia
