He was born Oct. 15, 1921 in Springbrook, the son of Harold and Esther (Allar) Miles. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He married Eris Thannum in Hayward on July 7, 1945. His passion was baseball and he played for many years. He operated Ray Miles Sales and Service in Seeley for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Eris of Hayward; two sons, Donald (Jeri) Miles of Hayward and David (Kathy) Miles of San Diego, Calif.; two daughters, Jacqueline (Duane) Amundson of Cable, and Sherry (John) Egan of Coon Rapids, Minn.; thirteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Glen Miles of Seeley, and a sister, Mildred (Wayne) James of Kiel, Wis.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Arthur and Walter.
Funeral: The funeral service was conducted at noon Wednesday, Feb. 15 at the Anderson-Nathan-Koerpel Funeral Home. Military rites were accorded.
Interment: Seeley Riverside Cemetery.
Casketbearers: Jason Amundson, Carl Christianson, and Robert, Steve, Tracy and William Miles.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to the Hayward Chapter of the Alzheimer?s Foundation or to the Hayward Hawks youth baseball program.
