From the 11 page booklet by Rev. Wm Clarkson Hammer, written in 1907, nephew of William Spoon, page 4-5:

"William Spoon married Pricilla Trogdon, a sister to his brother Eli's wife and settled on the next plantation on the creek below his brother El, where he lived on a farm, built a mill to saw lumber, one to grind corn, a cotton gin, and lathe room in which he did cabinet work, turned wagon hubs, bread trays, and many other articles that was used about the house in those days: after his family was partly raised, he sold out and bought another farm and mill on Richland Creek eight miles from Asheboro where he spent the remainder of his days."
