Cora Belle Mick of Knoxville passed away Friday evening, June 13, 1975, at the Collins Memorial Hospital in Knoxville where she had been a patient since Thursday, June 12th. She had reached the age of 87 years, 6 months.

Cora was born on December 13th, 1887, on the Davis farm East of Attica in Liberty Township, the daughter of Augustus A. and Laura Spurling Davis. She attended the Black Oak School in Liberty Township; Central College; Des Moines University and Drake University. She taught in Marion County rural schools and in the Bussey school system for 15 years.

On June 22, 1915, she was united in marriage to Elmer E. Mick in Bussey and they spent their early life in that community.

They operated a grocery store in Lovilia for many years. Following the death of her husband Emler in May 1941, she continued the operation of the store for several more years, later resuming her teaching career.

In 1950, she was employed in the business office of the Bellamy Telephone Company until her retirement on January 1st, 1968.

She was a faithful and active member of the First United Methodist Church of Knoxville, where she worshipped on Sunday, June 8th as was her custom. She was also an active member of the Susannah Circle of the United Methodist Women of the Church and was present for its meetings Monday, June 9th. She was also an active member of the Protheon Sunday Church School Class of the church.

For 64 years, she was a member fo the Order of Eastern Star. She was also a member of the Marion Rebekah Lodge; the Business and Professional Women's Club; Knoxville Women's Club; Marion County Historical Society; and several organizations earlier in her life.

She was president of 8 different organizations that she held membership in and in 1967 she was honored by the Knoxville Business and Professional Women's Club as "Woman of Achievement."

Cora was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Elmer; four brothers and five sisters.

Left are her brother, Horace Davis of rural Bussey; a sister, Ms. Jessie Mae Davis of Knoxville; and a host of other relatives and many friends.
