He became a licensed master plumber and eventually owned his own business putting plumbing utilities in new apartment buildings. Mr. Barrier was a Sunday School Teacher and Assistant Sunday School Superintendent at Bethany Lutheran Church for a short period of time. He had also attended Barachi Church for 15 years and the Candlelight Bible Church until moving to Arlington in 1983. Mr. Barrier enjoyed flying and became a licensed pilot of a small Cessna plane of which he owned. He loved the Lord and read the bible every day. Mr. Barrier accomplished reading the bible in its entirety. He underlined and dated each time he read it. Mr. Barrier continued reading the paper and bible until the onset of Alzheimer's in 2003.
In Arlington, he owned and helped operate, along with his wife and daughter, a family roller skating rink, Big Wheel Skateland, until 1996. After that he worked for Darious Plumbing Company as a Supervisor and Master Plumber until heart surgery in 2001. He was never without a dog or cat as a pet and he called these animals his kids. Mr. Barrier will be sorely missed.
