Frank m. at Middlesex, Vt., 19 Sept. 1848, NANCY E. LADD, b. at Middlesex, Vermont, 5 March 1822, who d. at Manchester, N.H., 19 June 1897, dau. of AARON and NANCY (BUCK) LADD. Frank and Nancy were both residents of Manchester, N.H., when they married.
Frank entered Lawrence Academy (Groton, Mass.) in 1836. In his father’s will, he was referred to as Aaron. In 1850 Frank A. and Nancy were living in Manchester, N.H., with Nancy's brother, Horatio H. Ladd. Frank was listed as an artist. In Manchester directories he was called a Daguerrian Artist. On 6 Jan. 1859, the Lowell Sun reported on Massachusetts Men in the Manchester (N.H.) Municipal Government: “…Frank A. Brown, Alderman, was born in Groton, Mass.” His death was reported on page two of the American Traveller of 5 Feb. 1859: “Col Frank A. Brown, daguerreotypists, and a member of the Board of Alderman of Manchester, N.H., died at Groton, Mass. of erysipelas, on Sunday last.”
