Tommy was the son of Thomas Thompson of Nevada and Patricia Boam of Fresno California. He was a passenger in a car returning from a day of partying at Millerton Lake. The underage driver was intoxicated and drove off the road. Tommy was critically injured and lived for a few days befor succumbing to his injuries. His older brother Pat Thompson had been in an earlier accident involving alcohol on the same road and was paralyzed from the waste down. Tommy was a McLane High School student at the time of his death.
