Anna C. Sheffer, age 101, of Mount Vernon, died Sunday December 14, 2003 at the Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon. Anna was born August 1, 1902 in Newcastle, Virginia to George T. and Alice V. (Jones) Dudding and had spent most of her lifetime in the Mount Vernon area.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mount Vernon where she had been a member of the Altiora Sunday Sunday_School Class. She was a member of Knox Chapter #236 Order of Eastern Star in Mount Vernon and had been a Foster Grandparent for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program in Mount Vernon.
Survivors include her sons Dale C. (Ruth) Sheffer of Marble Falls, Texas and Gerald M. (Nancy) Sheffer of Mount Vernon; grandchildren Steven H. Sheffer and David C. Sheffer both of Mount Vernon, Kathleen A. Weese of Austin, Texas and Greg Sheffer of Powell and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald C. Sheffer in 1966, her daughter Jean Smiler in 1954 and several brothers and sisters.
There will be no calling hours. Graveside funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 PM at Saint John's Cemetery near Mount Vernon.
