BUTLER, Ala. — Services for Mary Lois Shannon will be held today, at 3 p.m., at Bethany Baptist Church in Whynot with Rev. Danny Bilant officiating. Burial will be in the Bethany Cemetery with Bumpers Funeral Home of Butler in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Shannon, 101, of Butler, died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011, at Willow Trace Nursing Center in Butler. She was the oldest patient at Willow Trace and was known as Ms. Willow Trace. After becoming Ms. Willow Trace in 2010, she went to Birmingham and became fourth runner-up out of 77 contestants in the Ms. Alabama Nursing Home pageant.

She is survived by son, Frank Shannon (Jane) of Cuba; Ann Rolison of Lisman; daughter-in-law, Rita Shannon of Whynot; grandchildren: Lisa Davis (Charles), Lonnie Shannon (Lisa), Leigh Shannon, and Shelia McNeil (Durwood); great-grandchildren: Ashley Shannon, Jordan Davis, Dillon McNeil (Dena), Mary Margaret Davis, Laura Michal Sullivan, Kathryn Overstreet (John), and Steven Sullivan (Laura); great-great-grandchildren: Nicholas, D.J., and Dalton; best friend, Louise Thompson; and, her nursing home family.

She was preceded in death by her son, Tommy Shannon; and grandsons: Jim Rolison and Mike Shannon.
