Moore was born in Mt. Pleasant, UT on April 3, 1893. His parents were Ida Lowry Allen and Dr. Samuel H. Allen. Moore spent eight years in common school, four years at L.D.S. High School, one year in Germany on an L.D.S. mission, and two and half years at The University of Utah as a medical student. On January 15, 1918, he volunteered to join the Naval Reserve Force in the Hospital Corps. He trained in San Pedro, CA for three weeks, the Naval Base in San Diego, CA for one month, the Naval Training Camp in Mare Island for five months, and the Marine Barracks in Mare Island for another five months. He made a note on his questionnaire that “the time spent at the above named camps was not a period of training, but one of active duty in taking care of sick sailors and Marines”. He did not go overseas but instead stayed in California to care for other soldiers. He was promoted to 3rd class Pharmacists Mate on August 1, 1918 and then to 2nd class Pharmacists Mate on February 10, 1919. Moore wrote to the State War Historian of Utah on March 14, 1919 requesting a questionnaire to fill out. He goes on to say “I have not received my discharge as yet, but nevertheless I am anxious that my service record be incorporated in the history you are compiling.”
Moore returned to Utah and married Anna Hunt Allen on June 23, 1920. They moved to Baltimore for two years so he could focus on medicine practice. He then went to the University of Pennsylvania and graduated in 1924. From graduation until the fall of 1926 he served as an intern in various hospitals in Philadelphia. They returned to Salt Lake City in the fall of 1926 and he was employed by the Intermountain Clinic. They then moved to Carbon County from September 1927 until September 1931, when he returned to Philadelphia for specialized training in roentgenology. He pursued this study until 1933 when he entered the employment of the Episcopal Hospital as the head of its X-ray department. Moore and Anna filed for divorce in January 1935. In September 1939, the family returned to Salt Lake City and Moore opened an office in the Judge Building in March 1940. Moore passed away on August 2, 1952 after suffering a cardiac arrest.
