Edna Ester Baldwin was the daughter of Elias & Harriet (Moses) Baldwin, the twin sister of Ada and the wife of Lebius Jedidiah Smail. She had one son who preceded her in death. Roy Smail was born in 1895 and died that same year. She had one daughter Eva Grace Smail, the wife of Hurst Philip Staats.
Edna was buried at the Baldwin Family Cemetery, later other's in the area were buried there and the cemetery was renamed the Black Bear Creek Cemetery for a nearby creek.
