Born in Fountain County, he was reared in Fountain and Warren counties. In 1911 he was married at West Lebanon to Mabel May Baser. She died in 1960. He resided at 1535 Summit Dr., W.L.
He attended Valparaiso University, and taught school for two years before attending and graduating from Indiana University Medical School. He had practiced medicine for 50 years in Linden, New Richmond and Lafayette. Dr. Cole and Dr. Lowell R. Johnson were associated for 18 years at 2315 South St.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was an Army veteran of World War I. He was past president of the staff of both St. Elizabeth and Home hospitals; Fellowship in American Academy of Obstetrics and Gynecology; Fellow in American Chapter of International College of Surgeons; past president of Tippecanoe County Medical Association; Member of Indiana State Medical Association and American Medical Association.
He was also a member of Elks Lodge 143, Phi Chi and Alpha Omega Alpha honorary fraternities; 50 year member of West Lafayette Lodge F&AM; 724 Scottish Rite, Valley of Indianapolis and past Republican Councilman of West Lafayette.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Marjorie E. Sutter, who made her home with her father; one son William I. Cole of Spencer; one grandson, R. Gregg Sutter of Delphi, reared in his home; one brother Duffy Cole of West Lebanon.
