Francis had only one sibling, a sister named Jean Sanford. Francis graduated from the College of the Pacific (now known as the University of the Pacific)in Stockton California. He was employed by the Shell Oil company and later, the Nestle Company. He was the quality control manager. Francis was never enlisted in the military.
Francis and Edith were the parents of four daughters, Katherine, Ruth, Mary, and Margaret. They were the grandparents of 15 children.
Edith preceded Francis in death. Francis had a graveside service at the Sunnyside Cemetery.
