Bob Funderburk graduated as a Merchant Marine from Kingsport Military Academy (4.18.1944-11.23.1945). He was a Cadet Midshipman (E) on SS Nehallen out of California 7.24.1944 for Union Oil Company (War Shipping).

After graduation, he then served as 2nd Mate on SS Hall J Kelly for Alaska Transport Company (12.4.1945-2.07.1946), SS Vanderbilt Victory (Feb.1947) and SS Charles Paddock in Aug, 1947.

Following WWII, Bob joined John Deere Co in 1948 and remained with that Company until his retirement.

Bob wed Margaret Celestine "Tina" Anderson in 1958. Their children were Theresa Celestine Funderburk and Timothy Martin Funderburk.

Bob & Tina later divorced and in late life (c.1980) Bob wed Sally Eva Fulghum. Bob died of lung cancer and was cremated. His ashes were in possession of his last wife.

Placement of his memorial in this cemetery is to allow close proximity to his mother.
