He was born August 27, 1928 in Granville, North Dakota to Blanche and Melvin Muus. He was raised and educated in Velva.
He served his country by enlisting in the US Army. From April 1946 to August 1947 he was stationed in Korea. He re-entered the Army in September 1950 and served until April 1952 at Camp Haven and Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.
Jack met and married the love of his life, Audrey Florence Lienhart, between his two stints in the Army. Jack then attended Minot State University and University of North Dakota.
While working a construction job, Jack and his family lived in various cities throughout the Midwest. They then moved to Anaheim, California where Jack worked for UNIVAC Computers as their Branch Manager. He also served in this capacity in Vietnam and Omaha, Nebraska. Upon retiring from UNIVAC, Jack owned and operated the Muus Champion Auto Store in Bellevue, Nebraska for 13 years. Then they moved to Arizona for Audrey's health. Upon her death he returned to his friends and family in Velva. He served on Velva's City Council and dedicated himself to the beautification of the Velva Cemetery by planting many trees and establishing a watering system. He also helped raise his grandson, Jacob.
Survived by: son; Mike Muus (Montana); daughters; Jacque Ferbrache (Texas) and Lorrie Trenerry, (Montana); sister; JoAnn Smith (California); brothers, David (Washington) and Bobby (California); grandchildren; Amy, Jared, Aaron, Nicolette, Hauna, and Jacob; great grandchildren; Nicholas, Lily, Preston, Hunter, Trayton, and Maielle; along with many grand nieces.
Visitation: Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Funeral Service: Saturday, October 15, 2011, 2 pm at Oak Valley Lutheran Church, Velva
Burial: Velva Community Cemetery, Velva, ND
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Trinity Hospice program or the Velva Community Cemetery.
