Orangeburg, September 11 - Mr. C. M. McMichael died at his home last Saturday after a short illness, and the remains were interred in the Presbyterian Cemetery yesterday morning. Cephus Manly McMichael was born on the 2d of December 1823, being the son of the late Jacob McMichael and Sallie DeWitt McMichael. He married Miss Rachel E. Jennings and reared a large family. He was a member of the Constitutional Convention of 1865, and was a leading member of the leading family of this section. After the war he moved to Arkansas and lived there several years. Returning to Orangeburg County he served as clerk int he sheriff's office for twelve years, from 1880 to 1892. He has been a farmer for the greater portion of his life, and before the war was an extensive planter. He leaves three sons, T. G. McMichael, and attorney, of Mansfield, La.; John B. McMichael, of Horry County, and S. J. McMichael, of Washington, D.C., and three daughters, Mrs. A. M. Salley, Mrs. Frank Barton and Mrs. John R.
